Turkey testing new tram lines in Istanbul

Turkey is testing new tram lines in Istanbul, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Sept. 21.

The testing began on September 21. The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan will also participate in the process.

According to the ministry, construction of a new tram line in Istanbul will improve and expand passenger transportation.

"Subsequently, work will continue to improve the transport system in Turkey," the ministry said.

The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure plans to introduce new systems as part of improving the transport system of Turkey.

In Turkey, public transport system began to function for the first time in Istanbul in 1927. The first tram line was laid in Istanbul in 1939.
