Qatar achieves progress in LNG production target

(MENAFN) Qatar was affirmed to be making major steps forward in achieving its target to see a 30 percent boost in its LNG production to hit 100 million tons per annum from its current 77 million.

Qatar's Petroleum President & CEO Saad Sherida Al Kaabi explained that the plan aims to meet potential global demand for clean energy.

The statement has been made by the Qatari minister at the Gastech 2018 Conference & Exhibition while acting as its "Strategic Partner".

The minister underlined the prominent status of Qatar within the international gas and LNG industry.

Al Kaabi explained: "due to its environmental qualities as the cleanest fossil fuel, natural gas is playing an increasing key role, not as a transition fuel, but rather as a destination fuel."

He added "at the same time, many countries around the world are placing greater emphasis on natural gas as a strategic source of energy and an important element of its national energy security."
