Turkey increases military reinforcements at Syrian border

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- Turkey's military has issued new reinforcements to its units deployed on its borders with Syria.
Turkish news agency (Anadolu) quoted military sources as saying that an army convoy including guns, tanks, armored carriers, and Special Forces units reached Hatay's Reyhanli district on Tuesday.
The convoy headed to the borders with Syria amid security measures.
Equipment like bulletproof cement blocks, with each weighing 12 tons and four meters high were sent to the units at the border.
In a press conference yesterday in Sochi, Turkish and Russian leaders announced an agreement to create a demilitarized buffer zone to separate the areas controlled by the Syrian government and opposition in Idlib.
The agreement is a result of Turkey's efforts in preventing the Syrian regime and their support from dealing with the situation in Idlib through military action against the last stronghold of the opposition as there are approximately four million civilians including hundreds of thousands displaced persons.
