Oras Company awarded Nama Group's Best Sustainable Product at Injaz Oman's 'Al Sharika' Competition


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Injaz Oman successfully concluded Al Sharika Competition, sponsored by Nama Group (NG) for the third time in order to enhance the entrepreneurship concept of Omani youth and develop their potentials to establish Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Within the economic pillar objectives of NG's sustainability policy, this sponsorship was part of the group's strategy to support various developing institutions that contribute to Omani youth empowerment and the National Economy. Through this initiative, Nama Group aims at consolidating the sustainability aspects in the small companies, plus encouraging them to provide sustainable products and services in line with Nama's sustainability policy.

The group sponsored the 'Best Sustainable Product' Award that witnessed intense competition between the student companies, qualified to the closing ceremony of Injaz Oman's contest.

The ceremony was held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H H Sayyid Dr Fahad bin al Julanda al Said, assistant secretary general of the Innovation Development Department, The Research Council.

Eng Omar Khalfan al Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group, rewarded the winning company to encourage Omani youth to establish SMEs and acquire entrepreneurship skills needed to move forward in various economic sectors. The award-winning company, Oras, is an enterprise based on the production of biodiesel, which is an alternative to fossil diesel through natural resources, produced by the recycling of consumed and wasted vegetable and animal oils, 13 times highly efficient than ordinary diesel.

Dr Mansoor Talib al Hinai, VP, Distribution and Supply, and acting EM - Group Communication and Sustainability at Nama Group, said, 'We are committed through our sustainability strategy to develop Omani youth and entrepreneurial talents to become key business leaders of tomorrow. Injaz Oman's programme fits into our long-term strategy by improving lifelong-learners and investing in talents as an essential method of inspiring young Omanis. This is an ideal opportunity for them to channel their imagination into creative ideas that could potentially transform to new thriving businesses.'

The closing ceremony of the competition presented 15 student companies, qualified to the last stages out of 93 companies, which gained knowledge and capabilities, confirming their readiness to enter the labour market. Since its inception, the programme has included a series of presentations, a special exhibition and interviews to identify successful projects. The companies were evaluated based on high quality standards by an assessment committee, comprising a group of experts in the field of entrepreneurship.

Nama Group always intends to adopt and implement sustainable programmes that support SMEs and build Omani human resources to be capable of fostering the local community and economic sectors. In addition, NG extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Injaz Oman for its efforts in successfully organising 'Al Sharika'.
