DOHA: The Department of Public Libraries and Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports will hold the second annual Heritage Day in Qatar, entitled 'Qatouf of Qatari Cultural Heritage at the House of Wisdom at the Ministry's headquarters.
The event is part of the Ministry's weekly cultural programme, which will run from September 18 to November 20.
Harib Bin Mohammed Al Jabri, the Director of the Department of Public Libraries and Heritage, Ministry of Culture and Sports, said yesterday that the second cultural season of the Heritage Tuesday session aims to promote the concept of intangible cultural heritage, which means the practices, perceptions, expressions and skills that society considers part of its cultural heritage inherited from generation to generation. It is constantly created by society in accordance with the environment and history.
It also fosters a sense of national identity and its continuity, thus promoting respect for cultural diversity and creativity in society.
