Morocco bans violence against women

(MENAFN) Morocco's law criminalising violence against females has been put into action.

Forced marriage, sexual assault in public places, and stricter punishments for specific types of violence, have been included in the law.

However, Human Rights Watch has criticized it over not involving marital rape and the general defining of domestic violence.

A government survey discovered that 63 per cent of women between the ages of 18-65, have gone through violence.
