Oman- State Council, Chinese delegation discuss promoting ties, economic exchange


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The State Council and the National Council of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) discussed ways to promote and develop multi-faceted relations that would deepen parliamentary and economic exchange between the two friendly countries, during the visit of the Chinese delegation to the State Council.

H E Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, State Council chairman, received on Wednesday Chen Xiaoguang, vice chairman of the National Council of CPPCC, and his accompanying delegation currently on an official visit to the sultanate, stated a press release.

The State Council chairman welcomed Chen and noted the depth of the Omani-Chinese relations entrenched and deeply rooted in history. He acknowledged the strong cooperation in the fields of trade, which is an extension of the relations between the two friendly countries.

The visit is part of the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.

H E Dr Mantheri highlighted the importance of mutual visits and their role in strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries, noting in this context the visit of the secretary general of the State Council to China earlier. The meeting also reviewed ways to develop cooperation between the sultanate and China in parliamentary fields.

Chen thanked the State Council chairman for the warm welcome and hospitality he received, and emphasised that increased cooperation between Oman and China through parliamentary councils, has led to the intensification of visits and exchange of experiences.

‏He stressed the keenness of his country to consolidate existing relations with the sultanate, and said, 'We look forward to further development of cooperation between the two friendly countries in all fields to contribute to the achievement of their common interests.'

He expressed his admiration for the comprehensive development in the country under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and the sultanate's role in the maintenance of international peace and security. He added that his country attaches special importance to the strengthening of economic cooperation relations with the sultanate, noting in this context the high volume of trade between the two countries.

He added that the Chinese industrial city in Duqm embodies China's desire and interest to enter into investment partnerships with the sultanate.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh al Khattab bin Ghalib al Hinai, State Council vice chairman, Dr Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman al Lawati, vice chairperson, members of the council, Sheikh Rashid al Shamsi, vice chairman of Majlis A'Shura, and H E Yu Fulong, Ambassador of China to the sultanate.
