KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: Kuwaitis ranked last in terms of the level of activity and topped the list of the laziest among all the world's population. The percentage of those classified as 'lazy' Kuwaitis is 67, the highest among the countries covered by the World Health Organization (WHO), reports Al-Anba daily quoting 'Bloomberg'.

The WHO defines enough exercise as at least 75 minutes of vigorous activity or 150 minutes of moderately intense activity per week, or any combination of the two. Uganda topped the world's most active countries where the concept of 'lazy' was applied to only 5.5 percent of its adult population.

Globally, the average number of people who do not do enough activity per week according to WHO report is about 25 percent. Elsewhere around the world, India ranked 117th, Philippines 141st and Brazil 164th.

The survey showed that the level of activity among women was lower than that of men, as well as in rich countries, less than in poorer countries, due to the reliance on cars, as well as the increase in the number of jobs that do not include daily activity.

The American people ranked 143rd in the world, with 40 percent described as lazy while Britain ranked at 123rd, with 36 percent being labeled lazy and with China 14 percent ahead.

The report predicted that average laziness among peoples would increase by an average of 10 percent by 2025 and warned the governments should increase the efforts of individuals and encourage them to do so because of the risk to some people if rates continue at the same levels.
