(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Arab coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen said Tuesday its forces intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired by Houthis from Saada, Yemen, towards Saudi Arabia's territories.
Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al-Malki said in a statement, reported by Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that the air defense forces intercepted two missiles fired by the Iranian-backed Houthis towards city of Jazan at 19:58 pm, targeting civilians.
He said the Saudi air force destroyed the missiles. No one was hurt.
Al-Malki said Houthis' hostile acts proved anew violations of UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231.
He asserted that attacking populated areas with ballistic missiles was a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
The Houthis have so far fired 188 ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia. (end) nsa.mys
