Sohar Port inks deal with Svitzer for vessel fleet upgrade


(MENAFN) Sohar Port and Freezone was unveiled to have inked a deal with Svitzer for their pilot vessels fleet to be developed.

The agreement was also signed for the supply of a 24-hour operational support for ship movements in and around the Omani port.

The deal was penned by the CEO of Sohar Port and Freezone, Mark Geilenkirchen and Country Manager of Svitzer Oman, Karim Cordahi.

"We are proud to join hands with Svitzer, the leading global provider of marine services with over 430 vessels in operation worldwide," Geilenkirchen stated.

He added "due to the rapid growth in port operations and vessel movements' year-on-year, the provision of safe and efficient pilot services are a vital link in our operational capability."
