EAA Foundation condemns attacks on schoolchildren

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Education Above All (EAA) Foundation has condemned the attacks on children in Yemen and other conflict zones.
'Last week, Yemeni boys on their way to a field trip to celebrate the end of summer school were killed by a Saudi-led coalition airstrike. Three weeks before that, there was a co-ordinated attack on 12 schools in Diamer, Pakistan, said Mubarak al-Thani, head of advocacy at EAA Foundation.
'The world is seeing a pattern of purposeful and deliberate attacks on education in conflict areas. These attacks are designed to destabilise and impede growth and development, he noted in a statement issued by the foundation. Without peace, security and access to education, children are growing up drowning in a deadly maelstrom of ignorance, disease and illiteracy, he added.
'Education Above All Foundation, alongside the global community, condemns these vicious, co-ordinated attacks on innocent children in Yemen and in every conflict zone where attacks on education are taking place, the official stressed. 'To build a better world, we must work together to strengthen global governance and hold accountable those who unleash violence against children and education.
EAA Foundation is a global education foundation established in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
