Lebanese president assures Lebanese who work in Gulf

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Friday assured Lebanese residing in the Arabian Gulf that the country is "not bankrupt and security is under control and tourism is active." Lebanon has managed to survive a series of regional and international crises, Aoun said, addressing a group of Lebanese who reside and work in the GCC countries.
Stability has been maintained and tourism has been re-activated, Aoun said, vowing to continue to serve the nation, "without inflicting harm" on any other nation.
He urged the Lebanese in the Gulf to be faithful to the host countries and respect their traditions and laws.
Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese who work in the GCC countries send substantial remittances to Lebanon per year. (end) wsm.rk
