DOHA: Qatari exports to Jordan rose to 24m Jordanian dinars (JD) during the last five months of 2018 compared to JD10.7m in the same period in 2017, according to figures released by the Jordanian Department of Statistics in its monthly report on foreign trade.
The report said Jordan's exports to Qatar dropped as of the beginning of the year until last May to JD39.9m compared to JD56m during the same period last year. Prior to the siege imposed on Doha, Jordan exported to Qatar between 400 to 500 tonnes of vegetables and fruits per day, which decreased due to the siege to nearly 150 tonnes.
The Jordanian exports to Qatar happens through two ways. The first is to ship large-weight goods such as machinery and equipment from Aqaba (southern Jordan) to the Omani port of Salalah and from there to Hamad Port. The second is to ship light-weight goods by air.
