MP says Iraq able to make war reparations payments to Iran

(MENAFN) Iran was suggested to be anticipating war reparations to be provided from Iraq since the country is able to afford the payments.

The statement has been made on Saturday by Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, Chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee during an interview with Iranian Students News Agency ISNA.

The top chairman stated "Iraq can afford paying war reparations to Iran. So, we expect this to be done."

Falahatpisheh noted that Iraq is required to pay war reparations for imposed 8-year war based on the 10 article of UN Security Council Resolution 598.

He added that Iraq did not announce its complete rejection of making the payment to Iran.
