King offers condolences to families of fallen officers


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday visited the families of an officer who was killed in a Friday terrorist attack, and four others in a subsequent raid on suspected perpetrators to offer his condolences.

His Majesty offered his sympathies to the family of army Maj. Muath Damanieh, who died on Saturday while raiding a suspected terrorist cell in Salt. The King expressed pride in servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the homeland, according to a Royal Court statement.

The security operation in Salt resulted in four deaths among the personnel of the joint force that carried out the crackdown. Security agents arrested five terrorists and killed three others.

Also on Monday, His Majesty paid respects to the family of Corp. Hisham Aqarbeh, who was killed during Saturday's raid.

The King then visited Ajloun's Rasoun town to offer his condolences to the family of Lance Corp. Mohammad Bani Yassin, who was also killed in action on Saturday, the Royal Court said.

King Abdullah also offered his condolences to the family of Corp. Muhammad Hayajneh during a visit to Irbid's Deir Al Saaneh. Hayajneh was a member of the anti-terror unit that took part in the raid.

The security operation in Salt came in connectionwith the terrorist attack on a joint Gendarmerie-police patrol stationed in Fuheis on Friday, which resulted in the death of Gendarmerie officer, Ali Qoqazeh.

King Abdullah also visited Jerash's Souf and the home of Qoqazeh, who died on Friday during the attack near the site of Fuheis Festival.
