Syrian authorities prepare for return of refugees from Jordan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The local authorities in Daraa governorate, south Syria, finalized preparations for the imminent return of Syrian refugees from Jordan through Nasib border crossing.
The authorities set up a center for receiving the Syrian families at the border crossing and made available two mobile clinics, three ambulances, the necessary foodstuffs and health facilities, and buses to take the returnees to their homes.
The former refugees took advantage of the recent defeat of terrorists by the Syrian army and decided to go home, the Syrian state-run SANA reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian Ministry of Transport said it received no official request from Syria for the reopening of Nasib border crossing for individuals or commodities.
In early July, the Syrian army, backed by the Russian forces, regained control over Daraa and the border crossing that remained at the hands of armed groups since 2015.
The Kingdom of Jordan hosts nearly 1.3 million Syrians who fled the conflict in their country since 2011, according to figures of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (end) mjb.gb
