Oman- Bank Sohar empowers special needs youth and SMEs at 3rd Unity Expo


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As part of its Sohar al Atta CSR convey and maintaining an exemplary commitment to various segments of society in need of support, Bank Sohar recently helped empowering the local youth involved with the Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children by sponsoring the third Unity Expo.

Held in Muscat under the auspices of H H Sayyida Hujaija bint Jaffer al Said, founder of the association, the Unity Expo provided SMEs with an opportunity to showcase their products whilst raising the non-profit's profile to generate funds for the next academic year.

The event witnessed the presence of high dignitaries and guests, and received tremendous support from local media including social media influencers. Bank Sohar SME team was present at the expo to introduce esteemed guests and visitors to the array of services and products available for this important segment.

Ahmed al Musalmi, chief executive officer of Bank Sohar, said, 'Unity Expo is a platform of principle value when it comes to empowering people, and that is at the core of our mission when devising CSR initiatives. Bank Sohar's approach is focussed on being 'utilitarian', providing the greatest good for the greatest number possible, and by sponsoring this expo we reached multiple stakeholder groups in need of support and extended support to multiple segments of the society.

'We were able to promote customers and other Omani SMEs whilst furthering our commitment to supporting local youth and special needs communities in Oman, whilst further aiding a philanthropic organisation that has produced exceptional achievements since its inception almost 30 years ago.'

H H Sayyida Hujaija said, 'We thank Bank Sohar for its support in helping us to serve over 400 children across Oman. With such a large scope of programmes covering education, health, physical and academic services, it's important that we acquire support from the private sector to ensure we achieve a strong level of exposure in our work to enable children managing disabilities. The association strives to aid youth in achieving an improved quality of life through societal integration.'

The association is working to establish as many centres as possible as a means of catering to all local communities. It has already opened ten rehabilitation centres in Azaiba, Seeb, Quriyat, Barka, Musannah, Saham, Yanqul, Dhank, and Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan. The team working under H H Sayyida Hujaija further supports scientific studies and research into causes of disability.
