Al Jisr Foundation celebrates Omani youth on World Youth Skills Day


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Al Jisr Foundation hosted competitions to empower and encourage young Omanis by encouraging them to take part in constructive competitions.

In accordance with the UN International Day, World Youth Day, Al Jisr Foundation celebrates this day by announcing the winners that participated in the Green Building Competition and Al Jisr character drawing competition. The dayserves as an annual celebration of the role of youth as essential partners in adding value to society.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Oman, Al Jisr Foundation hosted a Green Building Design Competition. The competition provided architects with an opportunity to design a sustainable building for the Sur dialysis center, a project funded by Al Jisr Foundation.

Further, construction is expected to start in September. Many talented architects took part in designing the building, however, only 1 design was selected. The winner, Mohamed Al Farsi, 26 years old, received 1,000 OMR. He will also have an opportunity to take part in the project management committee. The role includes designing, planning, executing and monitoring the project.

Jawaher Al Hashim, 24, won second prize. Sabreen Al Maktoumi, 24, won third prize. This indicates that Omani women are capable of competing in all fields and reach leading positions.

In addition, Al Jisr Foundation involved the public in drawing the character that would represent the foundation in different upcoming projects. Ibrahim Al Rawahi, 21 years old, won the first prize in the character competition, 350 OMR.

Constructive competitions like these prepare and motivate youngsters and teaches them how to persevere. It also serves as a motivation for future endeavors. The way the country engages young people today will determine the predictions for sustainable development of the country.

To utilize young people's potential as a cause for change will require involving, empowering and supporting their participation at all levels. Al Jisr Foundation aims to involve the youth in finding solutions for several issues that our society faces. This will help the youth grow with a sense of responsibility towards their community.
