(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : The Bangladesh Monitor, Premier Travel and Tourism fortnightly of the country hosted a reception, July 21, 2018 at Pan Pacific Sonargoan Dhaka, in honor of Shahid Hamid FIH, on being elected to the Executive Board of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for next two years. Executive Director of Regency Hotel and Resort, Shahid Hamid is the first Bangladeshi to serve in such a prestigious position of PATA worldwide.
A Veteran and renowned personality in Bangladesh's hospitality industry Shahid Hamid, has been serving as the chairman of PATA Bangladesh Chapter for last four years. He is also the Board Member of PATA Headquarter for the period 2016-18.
Felicitating Shahid Hamid, Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor recalled his great contributions towards the development of country's Hospitality industry in particular, and the travel trade as a whole. Kazi Wahid urged upon him to put up his best endeavours to set up a PATA Tourism Excellence Centre in towards creating trained manpower for the Travel & Tourism Sector and try to host PATA Travel Mart in Bangladesh during his tenure.
The reception was addressed among others by Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, of Tiger Tours & Travels; Toufiq Rahman, Journey Plus; Syed Golam Qadir, Wonder ways, M. Zaman of Vantage Tours & Travels, Hanif Zakaria, Regent Airways; Naser Rahman, Dasai Resorts, spoke among others on the occasion. Akheruzzaman Khan Kabir, Chairman, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation was present on the occasion as a special Guest, and felicitated Shahid Hamid on being elected as PATA Board Members.
Reciprocating his sentiments, Shahid Hamid told that he feels honoured to be elected as a member of 12- Member Executive Board Member of PATA world, but it's my privilege to represent Bangladesh in the highest body of PATA worldwide. He assured that during his tenure, he will take most advantages, out of his position to use PATA's resources for the development of Bangladesh's tourism industry and be host country for some of it's major events.
A well known Hospitality Management Consultant Shahid Hamid has the experience of working with international chain and local hotels in various capacities. He is the Main Consultant of Regency Hospitality Management Institute and Chairman of Tourism and Environmental Development Ltd.
The Reception programme was attended by representatives from various institutions, organisations and establishments, related to Bangladesh Travel and Tourism industries, Media representatives among others.
