S. Africa: shooting leaves many people dead


(MENAFN) Police declared that unknown armed men have fired on a mini bus taxi, leaving many people dead in the latest disturbance among South Africa's taxi incidents.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed that the incident took place just before 8 p.m. as the mini bus had a number of people, who were departing a funeral in Ematimotolo in KwaZulu-Natal Province to Johannesburg.

He added that gunmen have interrupted the taxi's way between Colenso and Weenen and started shooting.

Many people have died, as the police were not able to provide the specific number, according to Naicker.
