Iran requires USD1.7bn to cut electricity losses by 3 percent


(MENAFN) The Iranian Energy Ministry was confirmed to be requiring around USD1.724 billion in order to achieve a decline in losses of power transmission and distribution at the grids by 3 percent.

The statement has been made by the director general of the office of power transmission and distribution management and supervision at the Energy Ministry, Abdolsaheb Arjmand, as reported IRNA.

Iran is to be capable of lessening energy losses to 8 percent over five years from its current figure which is 11 percent if it was able to obtain nearly USD345 million of funding per year, the official explained.

The country's installed power capacity at the moment is hitting about 77,000 megawatts (MW), as shown in data published by the Power Generation and Distribution Company, or TAVANIR.
