Iraq: IS militants abduct police officer, 6 civilians


(MENAFN) A regional security source declared that a police officer and six security members injured after militant Islamic State (IS) group have been abducted from a village in Iraq's central province of Salahudin.

Lt. Col. Mahmoud Jasim from Salahudin Operations Command confirmed that IS militants in two vehicles have crashed into the homes of a village close to near the town of Dour, around 150 km north of Iraq's capital Baghdad, and abducted six resident before they have transferred to the IS hotbed of Mteibijah, a mountainous area in the eastern part of the province.

Jasim added that IS militants outposts of police and paramilitary Sunni tribal members at the edges of Mteibijah area, triggering tensed battles which only stopped after interruptions of two helicopter gunships.
