Higher Organizing Committee of Aqdar World Summit Announces the Agenda of its 2nd Edition


(MENAFNEditorial) Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 27 May 2018: The Higher Organizing Committee of Aqdar World Summit held a meeting earlier at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior in Abu Dhabi that was chaired by Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, General Inspector at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee. During the meeting, they discussed the plans and agenda of the second edition of Aqdar World Summit which will be held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on 26-28 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The Higher Organizing Committee of Aqdar World Summit also announced the theme of the second edition which will be 'Developing sustainable societies through human development: Regulations Skills Knowledge Opportunities. The meeting also addressed the main topics to be discussed during the summit in addition to the participating exhibitors in the parallel exhibition. The committee were also briefed on the local and global top-notch speakers presenting at the summit.

Aqdar World Summit is considered an international platform that aims to develop sustainable societies, empower individuals, and support important initiatives and awareness programs that benefit communities. The event looks to achieve its main objective of 'Nourishing Minds, Flourishing Nations.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, General Authority for Islamic Affairs & Endowments, National Council, General Women's Union, Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai School Agency (DSA) of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the GCC countries.

Commenting on the event, Doctor Expert Ibrahim Al Dabal, General Coordinator of Aqdar World Summit said: 'This year, we aspire to reach what the UAE is seeking in leadership and excellence in the global arena by focusing on developing societies and empowering individuals as they are the essence of building ambitious civilizations.

He added: 'Through its theme ‘Developing sustainable societies through human development - Regulations Skills Knowledge Opportunities', Aqdar World Summit, as an international platform, will bring together experts and top notch speakers from various fields to discuss the main theme and come up with important recommendations that will with no doubt reflect on different societies.
From his side, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Aqdar World Summit, said: 'First of all, I would like to appreciate the continuous effort put by our wise leaders in letting the UAE become a global platform for hosting key international events. On her part, H. E. Mona Al Zaabi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Services at the Ministry of Community Development, Member of the Higher Committee of the Aqdar World Summit, said: 'The theme for the 2nd edition of the Aqdar World Summit is fully consistent and in line with the vision and objectives of the Ministry of Community Development, which aims to build a coherent, responsible and stable UAE society, and this can only be achieved by developing and empowering the individual within a closely knit community, bound together by strong relationships and common interests.

She added: 'This year, Aqdar World Summit will shed light on some new initiatives that reflect the empowerment of individuals in different sectors of the society and include the provision of innovative services that can help strengthen their capacities in order to put in place a cohesive community, which actively participates in social development.

While commenting on the significance of knowledge and skills to empower the individual and develop a stable society, Dr. Faisal Mohammed Al-Bakeri, Advisor to the Minister of Education, said: 'The Aqdar World Summit is being held in the blessed ‘Year of Zayed', that celebrates the teachings, lessons and memory of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and in particular his vision and efforts to develop, educate and equip the human race with the knowledge and skills required to build a safe and prosperous nation, to be proud off.

He stressed, 'We follow the directions of our wise leadership, which prioritizes the goal of human development and through a number of initiatives, visions and strategic plans, we aim to build a conscious young generation fully capable of learning and adapting to future challenges. In order to fulfil its goals, the ‘Ministry of Education' has implemented a new educational system based on the ‘Emirati School Model', which is focused on unifying the knowledge, skills and standards of all the students across the UAE.

He further stated: 'Our efforts at the Ministry of Education also extend to the overall development of the educational and administrative staff in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development and support the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, which aims to make the UAE, the best country in the world by 2071 and a become role model for future generations to follow.

On his part, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Raisi, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of Aqdar World Summit, thanked His Highness Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE for the trust and confidence reposed in him and also extended his gratitude for the guidance and support offered by His Highness for the summit. He stated that the organizing committee will continue its efforts with great motivation to successfully organize the 2nd edition of the summit this year.

He stated: 'The underlying themes, principles and values of the 2nd edition of the Aqdar World Summit will be different this year, as a number of new ideas emerged in their brainstorming sessions during the first edition last year. Moreover, a new plan to further streamline the activities of the Scientific Committee are being developed and this will be duly submitted for adoption before the start of the 2nd edition.

H.E. Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology and member of the Higher Committee of the Aqdar World Summit said: 'The Aqdar World Summit is a pioneering initiative of His Highness Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which aims to empower the individual for the development and stability of our society. The 2nd edition will be held under the theme ‘Developing sustainable societies through human Development. Regulations Skills Knowledge Opportunities', after the successful conclusion of the first edition, last year, which highlighted the subject of moral education.

He stated, 'The theme of this year's Aqdar World Summit focuses on ‘human development' as a prerequisite for the overall development of any country and its future. The summit will also focus on the important issue of ‘How to build a responsible and proactive individual?' who can help serve his nation with knowledge, skills and insight while at the same time withstand the pressures of intellectual challenges and conflicts, which influence the minds of young people.

Dr. Al Shamsi said, 'The theme of this year's summit also reflects UAE's effort in empowering the youth to overcome future challenges. Today, we are dealing with the rapid changes taking place across the globe within the framework of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution' and in order to find solutions to such challenges, the summit will bring together experts from various fields, who will speak about the key scientific and technological developments and the amazing growth potential of artificial intelligence. In addition, the summit will showcase the best international practices that support the development of human resources which enable the individual to successfully deal with these challenges and help contribute in building better communities.

He added: 'Aqdar World Summit is considered a global event with a comprehensive focus on human development, and it is considered a pride for the UAE that presents a pioneering model for human empowerment. This was the vision of our late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (PBUH), and today we are celebrating the year 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed' and I take this opportunity to thank our wise leaders for their visions, strategies and initiatives, which are focused on empowering youth to be the driving force for the country's future.

On his part, H.E. Hatem Fouad Ali, Regional Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), said: 'The 2nd edition of Aqdar World Summit will try to enhance dialogue, exchange views and adopt new approaches to ensure human development, while also provide everyone an opportunity to come together with proper recommendations on ways to develop actionable programs and valuable initiatives. In addition, the summit will discuss international efforts to prevent extremism, using the power of youth, harnessing the potential of educational institutions to develop frameworks and mechanisms to prevent moral deviation, which leads to extremism, crime and terrorism.

He added: 'Through our continuous participation and support for the Aqdar World Summit, we look forward to listening to the concerns and challenges of the youth in the UAE and the Arab World, who are indispensable for building a better future in the region.
