King of Jordan condemns Israeli violence in Gaza Strip

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, May 27 (KUNA) -- The King of Jordan Abdullah II condemned Sunday Israel's violence against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
King Abdullah II made those remarks during a meeting American congress delegation headed by Darrell Issa, where the two sides discussed bilateral strategic relations and current regional situations, the Jordanian Royal Court said in a statement.
The king stated, "it is necessary to reach a comprehensive peace that enables Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate aspirations to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital." King Abdullah II said the issue of Al-Quds, or Jerusalem, should be settled in the final status negotiation process. He was referring to US President Donald Trump's decision to consider Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
On the other hand, King Abdullah II affirmed his country's efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis within Geneva process, and the importance of maintaining the de-escalation zones in southwest Syria as agreed between Jordan, US and Russia.
The American delegation hailed Jordan's role in dealing with various regional issues and its efforts to achieve peace and enhance security in the region, the statement said. (end) ab.aa
