Iraq destroys ISIS position in Syria "completely"

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Iraqi warplanes have laumched a raid targeting commanders of the extremist group Islamic State (IS) in eastern Syria, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi's office said in a statement.

The strike targeted a position used by the commanders of the group, south of the town of Deshaisha, the statement said.

"The position was completely destroyed," it said.

The Iraqi air force has since last year carried out a number of air strikes against the extremist group in Syria, with the approval of the Syrian regime of President Bashar Al Assad and the US-led coalition fighting ISIS.
