UNGA president urges diplomats to 'focus on preventing conflicts'

(MENAFN) An appeal for a worldwide diplomacy has been made by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) president Miroslav Lajcak, aiming for it to avoid disputes.

The statement has been made by the top Slovak diplomat while delivering a speech at the UN high-level talks on creating and maintaining peace.

The president of the UNGA 72nd session then urged "diplomats should be focused on preventing conflicts."

Speaking to Xinhua, president Lajcak stated "there are too many conflicts around and we as the international community usually react to the conflict after they break out, not before."

He added "that is why we want to use this high-level meeting to speak about the prevention of conflicts."
