RIYADH, 24th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Joint Forces Command of the Arab Coalition has announced it is investigating claims alleging that coalition forces have targeted a wedding tent in the Beni Qais district in the northern Yemeni province of Hajjah.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Spokesperson of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition in Support of the Legitimate Yemeni Government, Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, on Monday said that the Command is "reviewing the post-action procedures for all its executed operations, especially in the place and time of the alleged incident," noting that the preliminary results will be announced once the comprehensive operational review is completed.

Al-Maliki also stressed the keenness of the Joint Forces Command to adopt and implement the rules of engagement in accordance with the rules and provisions of international humanitarian law, the most important of which is "the assumption that every person in Yemen is a civilian until proven otherwise."

He also said that coalition forces have a legal and moral commitment to protect civilians and civilian objects, in addition to taking all precautionary and preventive measures to ensure that the effects of conflict doesn't harm civilians.

The Spokesperson explained that current operations utilise the "highest standards and mechanisms of modern targeting" to determine legitimate military objectives, taking into account humanitarian factors, and using various intelligence sources and means to confirm accuracy.
