10 Daesh killed, 6 police wounded in Jawzjan clash
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Ten Daesh or Islamic state (IS) rebels were killed and six police wounded during a clash in Dar Zab district of northern Jawzjan province on Sunday, an official said.
The clash broke after IS fighters attacked a security check-post in the district at around 11am lasting one hour, Jawzjan deputy police chief Col. Abdul Hafeez Khashi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said ten Daesh rebels were killed and six policemen were wounded in the ensuing firefight.
Reinforcements dispatched to the area had evacuated the wounded to hospital and their health condition said to be stable, he concluded.
Khairullah, a resident of the area, said the clash between IS fighters and security forces continued for one hour and all shops were closed, but now the situation had turned to normalcy.
The Daesh group has not yet commented about the incident.
