Turkey detains German over attempts to join Syria's Kurdish militia

(MENAFN) Turkey has reportedly detained a German man on suspicion of attempting to become a member of the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia.

State-run Anadolu Agency reported Turkey to have seized a German who supposedly attempted to get into Syria to become part of Kurdish militants.

Citing security sources, the report explained the German, identified as 28-year-old Patrick Kraicker, to have been trying to cross the Syrian border when he was arrested in the Silopi district in southeastern Turkey on March 14.

Regional anti-terrorism authorities have interrogated the suspect eventually charging him of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization."
