Qatar's premier investor in the food and agribusiness sectors, has
announced an increase in production lines in its poultry, vegetables and
fodder sectors to support the country's food security efforts.
This
announcement came on the sidelines of Qatar International Agricultural
Exhibition 2018 (AgriteQ), organised by the Ministry of Municipality and
Environment at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Badr al-Sadah, Hassad Food CEO, said: 'We aim to support the country's
food security efforts by expanding our local and international
investments. We conducted an in-depth research on the local market needs
from the three sectors, developed suitable plans and started
implementing them to support in satisfying those needs.
'For the
fodder sector, we increased the cultivated land in Hassad's fodder farms
to increase production up to 10,000 tonnes annually, as well as
introducing new products such as ‘Alfa Alfa'.
In a statement
yesterday, Hassad stressed that it has played a 'major role in meeting
the local market needs of fodder products at the beginning of the
ongoing blockade. The company had immediately provided fodder products
to a number of poultry and livestock farms to ensure the continuity of
local production of milk and poultry, it noted.
Regarding the poultry
sector, the Hassad CEO said: 'Production of the Arab Qatari Company for
Poultry Production (Al-Waha) will reach around 16mn chicken and 120mn
table eggs annually. As for vegetables, Hassad has increased the
cultivated land since the beginning of the blockade to reach 8,000
tonnes of vegetables per year.
During AgriteQ, Hassad's stand is
showcasing a diverse set of high-quality items, produced by several of
its subsidiaries Arab Qatari Company for Agriculture Production is
displaying fresh vegetables, Arab Qatari Company for Poultry Production
(Al-Waha) is showcasing poultry products, Hassad Australia is displaying
chilled livestock, while Aalaf Qatar is showcasinge high-quality fodder
products.
Premium dates, basmati rice and olive oil are on display by Nafco.
Hassad's
stand also includes a majlis where free consultation is being provided
on different topics related to the food sector. Besides, the stand
features several educational activities for children of different age
groups and other experiences for the exhibition visitors.
Hassad has
diverse investments in Qatar, Australia and Oman with potential future
investments in several other locations. Through its various
subsidiaries, the company produces livestock, grains, fodder, poultry
products, vegetables, rice, dates and other products.
