Jordan- ACC president calls for boosting trade with Iraq


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 21 (Petra)--Board of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) discussed with President of the Iraqi Anbar Chamber of Commerce Abdul Samad Sabti and the accompanying delegation, means to forge closer trade and investment relations between Jordan and Iraq.

The ACC President Issa Murad said that Jordanian exports to Iraq have started to rise since the reopening of the Turaibeel border crossing with the neighboring country. He said a private sector delegation will visit Iraq to establish new economic partnerships between the two countries.

He also called on the Iraqi side to accelerate the activation of the list of Jordanian products that were exempted from customs duties to enable Jordanian products to enter the Iraqi market.

Murad said that the value of goods re-exported from Jordan to Iraq (via transit) stands at JD1.5 billion annually.

The Iraqi official spoke about the major damage caused to Anbar province by the security situation and wars, which led to the closure of all factories in the province.

He stressed readiness of the Iraqi side to receive Jordanian delegations in Anbar to familiarize them with investment and trade opportunities in Iraq.
