Qatar slams withdrawal of Jerusalem identity

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of a law authorising the interior minister to withdraw the Jerusalem identity from the Palestinians.

In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry described the move as unethical and completely disregarding international law, international humanitarian law and UN conventions. The statement called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and stop the repeated Israeli violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, stressing that such violations would undermine international efforts to implement the two-state solution. It reiterated Qatar's full support for the Palestinian people's self-determination and restoration of all their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent and sovereign state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
