Serious crimes dropped by 75% in Bur Dubai in 2017


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Serious crimes have dropped by 75 per cent in Bur Dubai district in 2017, according to studies revealed by the Dubai Police.

The Bur Dubai police station has also made a settlement of cheques worth Dh766 million in the same year compared to Dh825 million in 2016.

The decrease in crimes is attributed to the implementation of security programmes by the Bur Dubai police station.

Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the criminal investigation department at Dubai Police, praised the efforts exerted by the Bur Dubai police station headed by Brigadier Abdullah Khadem Sorour, director of the police station. He also lauded the use of artificial intelligence techniques for Dubai Police services.

The Bur Dubai police station attended 102,802 cases last year, 33 per cent of which required smart treatment. The department achieved 98 per cent of the completion time ratio, although the completion ratio target set by the police was 90 per cent. An average of three minutes and 12 seconds was taken for service transactions, while the average waiting time of customers was four minutes and 37 seconds.

The statistics were revealed during the annual inspection of the station in the presence of Colonel Saleh AlHamrani, deputy director-general of department of excellence and leadership, Colonel Khalid Sulaiman, director of inspection and supervision department, Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Mohammed Saleh, deputy director of Bur Dubai Police Station, Major Dr Abdul Razzaq Al Mazmi, head of inspection, and a number of officers.

Maj-Gen Al Mansoori was briefed on the techniques, systems, applications and smart solutions applied at the Bur Dubai police station. "What the police achieved in the Bur Dubai Jurisdiction is a good indicator of the effort is exerted by employees within an integrative system to achieve the highest possible accuracy within the Dubai Police objectives," he said.

Maj-Gen Al Mansoori directed to increase awareness campaigns and intensify patrols on the areas prone to traffic accidents in the Bur Dubai jurisdiction area.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Police have implemented five traffic campaigns in cooperation with the General Department of Traffic. These include campaigns on dangerous of taking sudden deviation turn, not leaving enough distance between vehicles, the importance of crossing from pedestrian crossing, and summer without accidents.
