Turkey voices concern at relocating US embassy to Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Turkey on Saturday expressed concern at the US decision to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as of middle of the coming May.

Washington is adamant on wreaking havoc "in the ground for peace," breaching international laws, Security Council resolutions on Jerusalem and UN basic principles, the ministry said, branding it as "an extremely worrying issue." It expressed regret that US Administration of Donlad Trump disregarded "voice of the international conscience," expressed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the UN General Assembly against Washington's decision to "recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital" last December.

Turkey will continue efforts with the international community against the decision with aim of protecting legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, it added. (end) rs.rk
