Johannesburg, Jumada II 8, 1439, Feb 24, 2018, SPA -- Seven suspected killers of five police officers have been shot dead in South Africa.
The suspected killers were shot dead during a gun battle with the police in Eastern Cape province on Friday evening, dpa quoted a special police unit for organized crime as saying.
Ten suspects were arrested, while others managed to escape, Hangwani Mulaudzi, a spokesman for South Africa's Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, said. One policeman was injured during the operation.
Unknown assailants had attacked a rural police station in the village of Ngcobo and shot dead five police officers and a retired soldier on Wednesday. Two officers were also injured in the attack in which guns were stolen, local media reported.
