(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Essa Al-Kandari on Friday highlighted Kuwait's presidency of the UN Security Council (UNSC) as "historic".
Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah is presiding over the UNSC in February.
This is a historic event that demonstrates success of Kuwait's foreign policy, established by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, pioneer of Arab diplomacy and the "Humanitarian Leader," Al-Kandari said in a press statement.
Kuwait's presidency of the UNSC will further reiterate the country's support of Arab and Islamic issues, especially regarding conditions in Syria where a bloody war has claimed thousands of innocent people's lives, he added. (end) sss.fs.msa
