Iraq: twelve militia fighters die in Islamic State attack


(MENAFN) Police and militia officials confirmed the death of over 12 militia fighters in a convoy attacked by Islamic State militants in Kirkuk city, north Iraq.

Over 10 other fighters from the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) have also disappeared, regional militia official declared.

A security official explained that Iraqi forces were seeking the Islamic State militants who faked identities as police officers to implement the offensive.

Iraq managed to overcome Islamic State militants who occupied about third of the country in December, despite that, attacks and explosions are consistently done by the association whether in Baghdad or other districts in the country.
