Iraqi forces arrest Islamic State leader in Mosul


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Baghdad: Iraqi authorities have arrested a leader of ISIS group during a security operation carried out by the joint forces east of the northern city of Mosul.

Nineveh governorate police said in a statement that joint Iraqi forces arrested Kenan al-Matuti, who was the "minister of military planning" for ISIS group, during the operation that took place in the area of Bartella east of Mosul.

Meanwhile, an explosive device targeting a local police patrol detonated in the area of "Tal Rumman" west of Mosul, killing two policemen and wounding another.
