Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will expand its fleet of ambulances with vehicles fitted with two beds to serve far-flung areas.

A source in HMC told Al-Sharq newspaper that plan is put in place after extensive study to meet the need of the patients. With this new addition, the number of ambulances required could be halved in case of accidents or situations with multiple people with an injury.

'Previously HMC had to send the same number of ambulances as the number of injured people, but now it will be possible to reduce the number from 6 cars to 3 cars if the number of injured is 6, the report said.
This will be mainly used in the external areas of Doha.

The ambulance crew in Qatar has reached 570 medical assistants, in addition to 36 ambulance supervisors using rapid intervention vehicles and 25 specialists for critical cases.
