Snow covers Sahara desert


(MENAFN) Located in the Sahara desert, in the Algerian city of Ain, snow fell, British newspaper Independent reported on Tuesday.

This is last time snow fell in this area was in December 2016, before that it fell 37 years ago.

Ain-Cephra is located at an altitude of about 1000 meters below sea level and is surrounded by the Atlas Mountains. The average temperature in the city at this time of year is 6-12 degrees Celsius.

Snow covered the sand dunes in the area of the city, where the locals came to take photos for memory.
