Lebanon to discuss "block 9" conflict

(MENAFN) On Monday, Lebanon discussed the repercussions of a border crisis with Israel, which claims the ownership of an offshore oil and gas field known as Block 9, an area in which Lebanon announced an oil exploration tender on it.

Lebanon's President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri are also scheduled to hold talks at the Presidential Palace in Baabda to discuss the current border dispute.

Lebanese military sources confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat as quoted that the talks "will be more important than previous meetings, in light of two major disputes that erupted lately between the two parties- the first on Israel's attempts to build a separation wall along the land border with Lebanon, and second, the conflict regarding Block 9."
