Arab coalition stresses humanitarian aid to Yemen

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- The Saudi-led Arab Coalition Supporting the Legitimacy in Yemen said Monday that it was taking measures to ensure humanitarian aid to affected people in Yemen.

The remark was made by the coalition's spokesman Col. Turki Al-Malki during a press conference at the conclusion of the coalition's meeting held in Riyadh today.

He announced a plan to promote the inspection of all ships coming to Yemeni seaports, and to protect aid workers.

The plan includes the re-opening of Al-Hudaydah port for 30 days, increasing the number of UN inspectors in Djibouti from four to 10 and tightening control on ports and corridors in order to prevent aid from going to the hands of Houthi militias, he added.

Earlier in the day, the Saudi-led coalition launched an all-out humanitarian process in war-torn Yemen, involving USD 1.5 billion in aid to the UN humanitarian plan in Yemen. (Pick up previous)
