Doha: Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) launched a project to establish collaboration on the exchange of information and consultancy on the recent techniques to capture the organic gas released from waste and recycle it into an organic fuel for dual-fuel vehicles.

The event was attended by QU-CENG Dean Dr Khalifa Al-Khalifa, MME Public Parks Director Mr Mohammed Al Khouri and MME Consultant Mr Jamal Shraideh, along with QU leaders, faculty members and staff.

In his speech, Dr Khalifa Al Khalifa said: 'This event comes in support of the MoU signed with MME to respond to environmental challenges, and push further investment in research in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

'This collaboration supports CENG's position as a leading partner in research to improve practices in coordination with local and international institutions and to promote efforts that provide efficient solutions in order to overcome the numerous challenges in the area of waste management. He added.

Mr Mohammed Al Khouri said: 'This project comes as a result of fruitful cooperation between MME and QU to provide solutions that help preserve the environment and achieve sustainable environmental development, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. MME is committed to provide full support to this agreement in order to fulfill its objectives in a way that benefits Qatar's environment and economy, and we look forward towards more concrete cooperation with QU in other areas.

This project was established based upon a memorandum of understanding, signed between Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) last February 2017.
