Cavusoglu: Turkey will not let Jerusalem, Palestinians alone

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday that his country would never leave Jerusalem City alone, adding that the Palestinian cause is Turkey's cause.
In a speech to the UN prior to voting on the rejection of Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Cavusoglu said Turkey is supporting Palestinians and will not leave them alone.
He said that today's vote is important to show that the Palestinians are not alone.
The world is bigger than five states, he said, referring to the five permanent countries at the UNSC.
There is a UN member state, which threatened member states, and some menaced to cut developmental aid, he noted, stating that it is unacceptable.
Cavusoglu said Turkey will work for achieving justice and peace, stressing that the last US decision runs counter to all world values.
On December 6, US President Donald Trump issued a decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and to move the American embassy to the city.
The move angered all Muslims all over the world, and so a number of leaders across the globe warned the US administration against this move.
Arab, Muslim and international leaders asked the US administration to back down the move so as to avoid repercussions in the Middle East region. (Pick up previous)
