Israel closes Hizma checkpoint east Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Dec. 21 (Petra) -- Israeli forces on Thursday morning closed the Hizma checkpoint, southeast of Jerusalem.

Hizma Municipality Council said in a statement that the closure coincided with active deployment of large forces of the Israeli army and police in the area.

Meanwhile, dozens of Palestinians were injured and suffocated in the Anata and Abu Dis towns near Jerusalem by Israeli metal bullets and toxic gas canisters as they protested against the US President Donald Trump recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
