Uzbek president receives head of Turkish agency

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has recently received the head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Serdar Cam, who arrived in the country for a visit.

The Uzbek president's press service said that during the meeting, President Mirziyoyev, warmly welcoming the guest, noted with satisfaction that the state visit to Turkey on October 25-26, 2017 brought relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership.

The implementation of joint programs with the Turkish partners in the fields of trade, industry, investment, transport, tourism, healthcare, education and others was positively assessed.

The importance of further expansion of TIKA's activity in Uzbekistan and bringing it to a new level was noted at the meeting.

The agency has already implemented about 700 grant projects worth $23.6 million in Uzbekistan.

Special attention was paid to the need to identify promising areas for bilateral cooperation, the systematic development of TIKA activities in Uzbekistan based on specific projects.

The parties also emphasized the importance of prompt development and implementation of the relevant road map, and an agreement was reached on a multiple increase in the number of projects and programs implemented in the spheres of economy, culture, education, healthcare, environmental protection, tourism and a number of other socially important areas.

Serdar Cam expressed his full support for the proposals and initiatives put forward by the leader of Uzbekistan, as well as the readiness of the Turkish side to exert maximum efforts for their timely and effective implementation.

TIKA was founded in 1992 in order to provide technical assistance to developing countries and to boost relations with them in the fields of economy, trade, technology, culture, education and social development through the projects and programs of the organization.
