Heads of Arab parliaments says Trump's decision on Jerusalem void, null

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Heads of Arab parliaments concluded their meeting late Thursday, considering US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital as "null and void".

The conferees issued a final communique in which they also expressed their denouncement of Trump's decision to relocate his country's embassy to the holy city.

They further voiced their absolute rejection of changing the historical, legal and political status of Jerusalem.

The top lawmakers announced that the United States has become no longer a peace sponsor as it violated the international legitimacy and law, and chose to be an adversary rather than a mediator as it should have been.

They affirmed that Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine, calling on all Arab governments and institutions to activate practically this resolution.

The conferees decided to form a parliamentary committee to be in contact with the European Union and its geopolitical parliamentary groups as well as regional and continental parliaments to tell them about repercussions of Trump's move on the peace process in the Middle East region.

They agreed to make all efforts to set up a headquarters of the Palestinian Legislative Council in the city of Jerusalem.

They reiterated their support for the Palestinian people's right to resist and combat the Israeli occupation in order to obtain all their rights like the right of return and the right of setting up an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the communique.

The speakers of Arab parliaments expressed their strong rejection of the US Administration's move not to renew the license of the Palestine Liberation Organization's office in Washington, calling for receding this step.

Finally, they extolled efforts by the Moroccan King as Chairman of Al Quds Committee aiming to defend and protect the holy city, its monuments, heritage and Arabic status. (end) mry.hm
