Qatar and Japan cooperate to enhance air quality monitoring

Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Environmental Monitoring Department is implementing an advanced experimental technical study in monitoring the quality of the surrounding air, which is expected to be completed during the first quarter of next year.

The study comes in the framework of the development of the environmental monitoring work in the State of Qatar, as well as the project to strengthen the technological capabilities of the environment, which is currently held between the ministry and a specialised team from Japan.

During the preparatory meeting with the Japanese team, Director of the Environmental Monitoring Department, Hussain Saad Al Kubaisi, stressed the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of environmental monitoring in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the field of environment and support the development pillar of the environment in Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Kubaisi noted the importance of using the latest technologies and benefiting from the advanced Japanese technology to develop and raise the efficiency of air quality monitoring programmes in Qatar as well as the importance of overcoming all difficulties and harnessing all possibilities and efforts to reach the desired goals. He pointed out that the Japanese devices will be installed in the air quality monitoring stations of the environmental monitoring department in the next few days.
