Scotland: government appeal for 'fix room' to be allowed

(MENAFN) Devolution of drugs laws is to be sought after by the Scottish government so that consumers of heroin are permitted to take it safely under medical supervision.

Given that Glasgow is witnessing a raise in street injecting as well as an increase in HIV infections amid users, an arrangement of a "fix room" in the city is proposed.

The proposal was described by Scottish ministers as "ambitious and innovative," whereas the Home Office which is responsible for drug legislation pointed out that it violates laws and expected police to enforce the law.
