By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

It is planned to adopt certain decisions aimed against Jerusalem's recognition as the capital of Israel at an emergency summit of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jerusalem to be held Dec. 13 in Istanbul, the Turkish media reported Dec. 11.

First of all, the OIC member countries will create a special commission on Jerusalem, according to the report.

In case if other states also decide to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the OIC member countries will reconsider relations with these states, the report said.

The OIC member countries may recall their ambassadors from the US in protest against Jerusalem's recognition as the capital of Israel, according to the report.

'The OIC member countries may also impose economic sanctions on Israel,' the report noted.

Previously, US President Donald Trump proclaimed that the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Israel proclaimed Jerusalem its capital after the end of the War of Independence in 1949. In 1967, after the Six Day War, it seized East Jerusalem and united it with the West Jerusalem, but the UN did not recognize this. Embassies of countries that have diplomatic relations with Israel are located mainly in Tel Aviv, Herzliya and Ramat Gan.
